I had this problem on my V50 SE, figured if i pulled over at the services on the motorway and did the classic 'turn it off then on again' then i would be quids in! - i wasnt, the engine (which was running perfectly) didnt start up again or even recognise a key in it, the windows and central locking died aswel?! i then discovered a loose connector under the glovebox under some carpeting on the passenger footwell, its a white/black angled connector block with loads of wires coming out of it on the stereo side towards the rear corner, i pushed it about a bit and the warning light went away! it still happens occasionally but all i do now is make an effort to not stall the engine, pull over and tap it with my hand under the glovebox, i dont even need to get out the drivers seat! Volvo main dealer said it could be an alternator problem throwing up error codes due to low voltage etc and wanted to do diag. Is it possible the airbags will not function in this state ? Also surely this is a safety critical fault that Volvo should be responsible for.
Not happy with the cost of having to replace a CEM. Has anybody ever had this problem before and do the CEM's regularly go ! Basically I'm wanting to know if this is a last resort diagnosis and it could actually be something else. Trawling the Internet and looking through Haynes manual etc, I'm thinking he could have meant the CEM. Cost £500!! Apparently they had struggled to find the issue at first ? What the laptop screen went blank !Īnyway now having spoken to the missus she didn't quite catch the name of the module as all she heard was £500 before her mind went into a spin. My wife took the car to the local Volvo dealer and the technician plugged it up to the diagnostics.Īfter an hour he came and told the missus it was some electronic module that needing replacing as it was not sending signal to airbags. Last week the SRS warning light came on 'SRS Airbag service urgent. Firstly apologies if this thread has been discussed before.Ĭurrently have a 2008 Volvo V50 2.0d 33000 miles.
